Over fishing is a huge problem within the oceanic community. One of the victims of this monstrosity is the Bluefin tuna. Because of their delicious meat, and their high income value, fisherman can’t help but catch and sell as many as they can. Over 40,000 tons of these fish were caught last year. Most of the fish included in that amount are juveniles. Because the juveniles aren’t old enough to reproduce, whole generations of these fish are skipped. Statistics show that winning the lottery is more probable than a juvenile making it to adult hood. Considering a female releases 100,000 eggs per kilogram of her body weight, those chances are insanely low. One of the contributors to the low amounts are technicians. As time passes, technology advances. Because of these advancements, finding, and catching, these fish is much easier. Another problem is fisheries. A fishery is where fish are bred and raised to be slaughter for the market. Most of these fish are sold to Japan. In ancient times red meat was considered peasants food. Eventually, the aristocrats tried the fatty tuna and instantly feel in love. Since then large amounts of tuna have been sold in markets. One tuna sold for 50.9 million yen (750,000 American dollars) Most of these fish are found dead markets, or stuffed inside a tuna role. The Bluefin tuna is heading right towards extinction, what can you do to help?
